Chevy Corvette Turns 60 Years Old

Just recently Chevy celebrated the 60th year anniversary of the first Corvette sports car manufactured. The first car was produced in Flint, Michigan on June 30, 1953. The Corvette became the top sports car that everyone wanted to own. In 1953, Chevy made only 300 cars to sell to consumers.

The first Corvettes were white with a red interior. They cost $3,498 dollars. In 2006, the third 1953 Corvette sold for $1.06 million dollars at an auction. The Corvette was first manufactured with a six cylinder engine until 1955. Over 90 percent of the buyers ordered a eight cylinder motor so the six cylinder model was dropped. The Corvette was produced as a convertible for first 10 years.

In 1973, the new generation of Corvettes with split windows and fixed roofs debuted. Still the classiest sports car around, check out the latest models of the Corvette at Hudiburg Chevy in Oklahoma City. They sell Chevrolet, GMC and Buick models. They are the best Chevy Service in town.
