“Oil” is Not Just “Oil” Anymore

If you want to properly maintain your vehicle, at some point you'll have to decide where to have your vehicle serviced. As an “Old Guy”, I changed my own oil for many years. Today, I would not even consider it. You don’t want to risk voiding the manufactures warranty.  This can be hard to do unless you take your vehicle to the Dealership. For example, a 2005 through 2010 vehicle of a single model each has different motor oil specified by the manufacturer. Many of the “Quick Lubes” and smaller garages just don’t have that information available to them (or they don’t take the time to check the owner’s manual). It's also important to use oil that meets the automaker's standards, which commonly includes oil with an American Petroleum Institute certification.
